IT Department Manager

Kaos Studios is looking for a qualified IT Manager interested in a unique opportunity to work with a highly creative and diverse set of clients. Our focus on building AAA video games means that we are highly demanding of our IT department; we're looking for a manager adept at dealing with requirements that can change on a weekly or even daily basis. The IT Manager is required to maintain a long term vision while managing the day to day activities of the department. The IT Manager reports directly to the Director of Development, and is expected to maintain a close relationship with all the senior staff of the company. The successful candidate will have 6 years of IT experience, at least 3 in a senior IT role, and ideally at least one in a direct IT Manager role.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily prioritization and assignment of IT responsibilities
  • Maintain open and transparent relationships with key contacts on each team
  • Maintain an up to date understanding of the upcoming milestones for all projects in the studio
  • Initiate and implement improvements in all areas of studio IT
  • Provide clear leadership to the IT team with regards to client management and personal career management
  • Regularly update the studio with regards to upcoming IT initiatives and improvements
  • Continually suggest areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions
  • Oversee the administration and maintenance of the Studio’s LAN and infrastructure
  • Oversee troubleshooting, systems backups, archiving, and disaster recovery and provides expert support when necessary
  • Work with project teams to help implement Internal Systems
  • Oversee all help desk activities at the studio wide level
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships and manage the purchase of hardware and software products
  • Ensure that all company assets (software, hardware, etc.) are maintained responsibly
  • Maintain all IT Technology budgets (Department and Studio-wide)

Requirements:

  • 6 years overall IT experience
  • 4+ years in a senior IT role (Direct IT Manager role experience ideal, but not essential)
  • 3+ years planning and maintaining an accurate technical budget
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to apply effective communication and motivational techniques in managing subordinates
  • Excellent problem solving/analytical abilities
  • Strong project management skills and documentation practices
  • Excellent work ethic/ownership values
  • Detailed and intimate knowledge of Windows Server technologies
  • Detailed and intimate knowledge of Microsoft Exchange and general mail technologies
  • Knowledge of routers, switches and VPN equipment and associated protocols (TCP/IP, etc.)
  • Familiarity with voice technologies (VOIP, PBX, etc.)
  • Experience with adherence to IT policies in a large corporate environment
  • Solid knowledge of PC hardware including video cards, processors, motherboards, etc.
  • Experience with source control software (Perforce, Alienbrain, etc.) is a plus!
