HOMEFRONT UNVEILED
New title in the works!!

THQ Inc. today announced Homefront™, a new First Person Shooter (FPS) from internal developer Kaos Studios. Penned by John Milius (Apocalypse Now, Red Dawn), Homefront is set ten years into a global energy crisis, and follows the American Civilian Resistance as they fight to reclaim their homeland from an oppressive North Korean occupation. With the fourth largest standing army in the world, the now nuclear North Korea has overtaken not only South Korea, but has become a major internal threat to a struggling United States. Details of the occupation will be revealed in future updates, as well as having mysteries unraveled in the single player campaign.

Featuring a personal, story-driven single player campaign and a full suite of multiplayer options, Homefront is scheduled for release on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC.

Homefront will be unveiled at E3 2009 in THQ's booth - number 5300 in the West Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center.

"Homefront isn't about going to war on the other side of the world or battling aliens from another planet; it's about fighting foreign occupiers in your own backyard and defending your right to live," said David Votypka, design director, Kaos Studios.

"Homefront combines the unsettling notion of an occupied America with interactive, player-driven narratives to create a deeply engaging single and multiplayer experience."

KAOS STUDIOS EXPANDING
More opportunities for talented game devs...

New York-based Kaos Studios, a division of videogame publisher THQ, today announced that it’s ramping up staff as it moves into full development on an unannounced project. Kaos’ debut title, Frontlines: Fuel of War, was a commercial and critical success, shipping more than one million units and holding the record for most players on the XBOX 360 in a FPS game (50 simultaneous).

Driving this hiring effort will be the studio’s new General Manager David Schulman.

"This is a very exciting time for Kaos Studios and I look forward to expanding our very talented team,” said David Schulman, general manager of Kaos. "Building on the success of Frontlines: Fuel of War, we plan to continue to introduce groundbreaking new features in our next project.”

Kaos has also re-launched KaosStudios.com, revealing behind-the-scenes information about the studio, specifics about the positions the studio is seeking to fill, a comprehensive guide to working in New York City and a “Top Ten List” for joining the Kaos team. Those who are interested in relieving some stress may be very interested in reason #4.

Schulman noted that "Manhattan is a major cultural center of the world and our team is one of the most talented in the industry. It’s a remarkable time to be here.”

SLIPKNOT XBOX LIVE EVENT!
Heavy Metal on the Frontlines...

Rock band Slipknot was the featured celebrity for the Microsoft sponsored “Game with Fame” event on Xbox Live that took place on October 14th.

Chris Fehn of Slipknot and his collection of friends took on three members of Kaos and 39 rabid fans. Though the fans changed throughout the evening (9pm-12am EST) we never dropped below 50 players. Chris played from his hotel room in Japan as the morning sun poured in.

We rotated through Solar Farm, Oil Field, Roundabout, and Mountaintop and Slipknot’s team dominated the rounds early on, then they split up later in the night, giving the advantage to Red Star. Chris was hit with messages throughout the night through XBox Live and fans squaded up and talked with Chris as well as the Kaos developers. Chris and Kaos signed out at midnight, but we left the server up for all to enjoy for the rest of the night.

Watch for news of future “Game with Fame” events!

BRINGING IN THE HEAVY GUNS
Armed Service experts weigh in with Kaos Studios...

This morning, Kaos had the honor and privilege of welcoming a few members of our armed services to the studio to check out Frontlines™, discuss future projects, and give Kaos a glimpse of what life on the real frontlines is like.

With two of the armed service members returning from assignment abroad, we had a great opportunity to discuss what equipment is being used in the field, how squads are deployed and roles managed, and which new tech deployments are the most highly anticipated from the brave men and women serving abroad.

The officers also got a chance to play some of our new DLC maps for Frontlines™, and they’ll be back in the near future to consult on team tactics and strategies for future Kaos products.

Our hats go off to them for all the great work they’re doing for us, and we look forward to having them back soon.

PUTTING THE PAIN IN PAINTBALL
Lock and load in Pennsylvania...

Taking a break from shooting each other during our daily multiplayer tests, the Kaos team ventured into lovely Albrightsville, Pennsylvania to shoot each other with paintball guns!

The team split up into two small militias, and naturally organized themselves into squads featuring commanders, squad leaders and point men. While we didn’t have paintball drones, we did manage to play quite a few spirited games of team deathmatch, capture the flag, and a final anarchical round of anything-goes-mayhem.

Afterwards it was off to Barley Creek Brewery, for an evening of licking our wounds and comparing epic war stories over some deeeeelicious BBQ and an equally epic amount of beer.

There were some classic moments- including battling on a massive 3-story castle, programmer Jon Uy taking one in the kisser and senior artist John Gaertner going all Rambo on everyone.
